CASEY MESSUTI

HEAD KIDS BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU INSTRUCTOR

female jiujitsu instructor

"I started grappling in 2012 beginning with Catch Wrestling focused No Gi Jiu Jitsu. It wasn't until mid 2015 when I decided to begin training in the Gi under BJJ Black Belt Andre "Gigueto" Soares. Upon his return to Brazil, I began training under Pro MMA fighter and AMA Alumni Sean Santella at Miller Brothers MMA where I received my first stripe on my white belt. It was around this time that I realized training in the Gi was where I truly wanted to focus.

In 2016, I transitioned to AMA Fight Club under Jonathan Helwig where I received my blue belt and have represented them ever since, on and off the mats and in competition. Jiu Jitsu has taught me more about myself than I can ever give credit to anything else for, and those lessons I've been lucky enough to be able to pass down to my daughter who is now an active competitor herself. My most joyful moments lie watching her succeed in the sport that has given me so much throughout my life. Watching her quite literally fight through adversity is such an incredible feeling.

As head kids instructor at AMA, my greatest desire is to be able to pass whatever knowledge I possess down to the younger generation of Jiu Jitsu athletes- watching them learn and thrive is such a privilege.

Lastly, I am so deeply grateful to share my second home, AMA Fight Club, with my husband Andrew who I have the honor of teaching and assisting Fundamentals classes together. Sharing Jiu Jitsu with whoever wants to listen is a mutually shared passion between us and is in part what brought us together. I'm excited to keep sharing the love and see what the future holds for me and my family in the evolving and ever-growing world of Jiu Jitsu!"
